Book Information The ORDER ONLINE button near the image of the book throughout the site links you to the primary distributor, who is also the publisher, iUniverse in Nebraska. When you activate the ORDER ONLINE button you are taken by an unannounced URL link to the iUniverse site , where you identify the book you are interested in at the electronic page’s upper right hand corner, at the SEARCH BOOKSTORE location, where you can identify the book by typing in the Title (Save Mozambique’s Elephant Coast), or Author (John Perrott), or ISBN (0-595-43868), which will bring up the books information, and give you an ordering-on-line sequence to follow. Should you have any problem and want to contact iUniverse, call 1-800-288-4677 to talk to their book sales people. Note, iUniverse is a ‘publish-on-demand’ (POD) publisher. The manuscript-to-be-book evolves and is updated and stored electronically, eventually to be published (printed) only when there is a demand vs. the older printing press approach where one had to order (pay for) some several thousand books up front and then warehouse them. Barnes and Noble (www.bn.com) is the owner of an interest in iUniverse. Then iUniverse has arrangements to make the books available (distribute them) thru Barnes and Noble and Amazon.com, but it will take some time (weeks to months) to get these alternate avenues to buy books up and running. Meanwhile the paperback book and the Adobe eBook are currently available through the ORDER ONLINE button route above available throughout this site, as the best (only) early front end provider. There is a delivery delay of up to seven days to print, then the delivery to customer delay. The eBooks are immediately available to purchase through iUniverse for down loading an Adobe file for reading on your computer screen. I apologize for the hefty $34.95 price of the paperback book ($6.00 for the Adobe eBook). However iUniverse sets the price of the books they publish based on format (larger than industry size at 8.25” x 11”), number of pages (386 according to the publisher, paginated at 373), and whether the book is fiction or non fiction (the latter is more pricey). As the author I had a choice of 20% or 10% cut of each book’s sale proceeds, and chose the smaller 10 % (gives book vendors more leeway to discount and move books). But I have donated the book to the IRS 501-(C) (3) not-for-profit entity of the same name so the proceeds go to that pot to help in supporting activities to enhance the cause and effort to save the Elephant Coast for future generations. So for me this is a labor-of-love undertaking, with my contributing the cost of publishing the book up front, definitely not a get-rich-off-the-book issue. Any charitable contributions to SMEC.org 501-(C) (3) entity could go to buy books to give to potential investors, sponsors, interested-in-the-issue NGOs, Government of Mozambique entities as the land owners and hosts of any project, etc to get a project promoted and up and running. Now you know the rest of the story. |
